WE ARE HERE!!!
It is Tuesday afternoon and after a very tiring day of travelling yesterday we have finally made it to Nashville, Tennessee. The jetlag was massive and I was not able to join the others who were going out for some food last night. I basically passed out on the flight from Charlotte to Nashville whcih was, above all, over one hour delayed :(
The flight from Frankfurt to Charlott was cool though. We flew all the way over icy Greenland and then over a very wintery America, me being totally mesmerized by the lovely countryside and all the snow. We arrived in Nashville around ten at night and after
close to 24 hours of being awake everyone was pretty economical with their disposal of words. Everything got bearable after the first shower though. When I went to bed it was 5 o' clock in the mornign in Germany, nevertheless everyone seems to have wakened up around 5 in the morning here because our biological rythm told us it was time to get up...tough life but we managed to fall asleep again and we will get used to it sometime. The only problem is that whenever we will have got used to it we will have to go back to Germany I guess...
Anyway, we had a lovely breakfast, including all the excessive American food luxury like wafers and even ice cream - heavenly! Tomorrow we are going to try the next kind - maybe that gorgeous one with chocolate co
okies in it and we are going to put a couple of extra ones on top - yummy!!!
After breakfast we met Kathy, the one in charge here, and she showed us the campus and introduced us to several people who were all exceedingly freindly and very nice. The Germans felt intimadated by that from time to time, especially when wlaking into the cafeteria and being greeted: Hello honey, how are you? in a sing-song like manner that suggests you have been coming into that specail cafeteria for the last 30 years or so - that truly is American friendliness an
